Headline

BofA Raises U.S. Minimum Hourly Wage to $25, Increasing Starting Salary to More Than $50K

The exact new number and a second concrete figure both land in one line, giving the full news value before the lead even starts.

Subhead

The increase delivers on a pledge to hit $25 by 2025

The subhead frames a routine pay bump as the payoff of a multi-year commitment rather than a one-off announcement.

Lead paragraph

Bank of America announced it has raised its U.S. minimum hourly wage to $25 per hour. With the increase, the minimum annualized salary for full-time employees in the U.S. will rise to more than $50,000.

Two consecutive sentences answer the hourly wage and the resulting annual salary, the two numbers a compensation story needs most.

Quote

Our strong and rising minimum starting salary provides opportunities for our teammates to build a long-term career at Bank of America. Competitive compensation is one of the many ways we are helping to drive American economic growth and opportunity. (Sheri Bronstein, Chief People Officer)

The executive's quote is built around retention and career-building rather than repeating the dollar figure, giving the number a why-it-matters angle.

Boilerplate

Bank of America is one of the world's leading financial institutions, serving individual consumers, small and middle-market businesses and large corporations with a full range of banking, investing, asset management and other financial and risk management products and services.

A standard company-description boilerplate closes the release, the kind any large employer can adapt for its own wage announcements.

Each passage above is quoted from the release; the note under it is this site's reading.

Why it works

  1. The headline states the exact new number and adds a second concrete figure, giving the full news value in one line.
  2. The subhead does one job only: it frames this as the finish line of a stated goal, turning a routine pay bump into the payoff of a multi-year commitment.
  3. The lead sentence answers the two numbers a compensation story needs, the new hourly wage and the resulting annual salary, in two consecutive sentences.
  4. The body recaps the wage's year-by-year history, turning a single announcement into a multi-year track record.
  5. The executive's quote is built around retention and career-building rather than repeating the dollar figure, giving the number a why-it-matters-to-employees angle instead of restating it.
  6. Dateline, a named executive quote, a boilerplate paragraph, and a named contact with direct phone and email are all present, making this a complete, ready-to-study example of the standard corporate wire release format.
